A life long interest in bead work is born

I took classes from experienced headers, and learned how to combine the different disciplines in a single piece, and began going to bead shows/sales, meeting different vendors, and teaching what I knew to others, starting with my youngest daughter who was four at the time and then including the girls in my Girl Scout Troop at age 8 and up.

After a few years I began to enter my bead work in the San Diego County Faire. I was amazed and stunned when I won my first blue ribbon for my bead work.

I continue to learn more from popular bead work magazines and Gem Faires, and across a 10 year span, I earned over 30 ribbons mostly first prizes.

Then I created a camp for Girl Scouts called "just jewelry" I had my own camp for about 7 years, and enjoyed working with the girls and helping them to earn various badges . My youngest daughter was teaching girls when she was 7 and won a 1st prize ribbon for her own bead work! I don't design beaded work, but rather my work is organic. I start with the materials I want to use , the colors I want to work in, and have a general idea of what I want to create. Sometimes I want to make a necklace, and end up with an earring , and vice versa. It's always a process, and for me, therein lies the creativity. One idea sparks another and another and usually I am working on multiple pieces. In my time, beads have been made in many new shapes, colors , finishes, number of holes and many more things to keep the addiction growing. And here is where I will show you exactly what I mean!

That's all for now. Stay turned for the next blog, and I will try to give you more of myself.
